📈 How to *actually* prove your events are a success

POV: you just executed a killer event you know attendees loved… but here comes the hard part:

Backing that up with the right metrics.

Should you use attendee count? Pipeline? Engagement?

It’s pretty common for marketers to fall into the trap of measuring everything (and drowning in data) while missing out on tracking what’s most important.

But our friends at Zuddl put together an awesome and easy-to-use checklist highlighting all the metrics you should be tracking – the ones that strike that balance and tell you how your event has impacted your audience and business.

Get the checklist here to see what you should keep an eye on post your next event.

🤑 Hot Off the Press: The Exit Five B2B Marketing Salaries Report

If you’ve ever tried to figure out what someone in your role should be making in B2B marketing, you’ve probably had to do one of the following:

  • Ping a friend and hope they’re comfortable sharing
  • Do some mental math based on a job post that listed a wide salary range
  • Scroll Glassdoor and realize the numbers are all over the place

And that’s exactly why we created the first Exit Five Salary Benchmark Report.

This report is based on 1,079 full-time, in-house B2B marketers across levels, company sizes, and functions.

And while we packed the full thing with detailed charts and breakdowns, here are a few things that stood out:

Product Marketers are the highest paid.

The average salary for a PMM in this report was $146,118 – higher than any other function. That’s likely because the scope of the role is growing. Product marketers are doing a lot more than just messaging and positioning now – they’re often embedded cross-functionally, guiding strategy across sales, product, and customer teams.

The biggest jump in pay isn’t at the top – it’s in the middle.

The largest salary increase we found happens between Manager and Senior Manager roles. That step alone comes with a 33.5% average increase in salary, making it a critical inflection point for career growth (and one worth negotiating hard for when you’re ready).

Company size and geography still play a big role.

Yes, bigger companies generally pay more. But the highest average salary came from companies in the 501–1,000 employee range – not the largest orgs. And while California still offers the highest average salary for marketers at $178,847, mid-sized firms in smaller markets are holding their own. Smaller teams are offering competitive pay to attract talent – and sometimes outpace their larger peers.

Remote roles are the norm – but not always the highest paying.

Over 76% of marketers surveyed work remotely. But interestingly, the highest compensation ceilings showed up in on-site roles. There’s still a lot of nuance here, and it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re evaluating offers or planning your next move.

Most marketers aren’t totally satisfied with their compensation – or their path forward.

Only about half of respondents felt their salary fairly reflected their work. And the majority (64%) said they don’t see a clear path to grow their careers where they are. For managers, this is a critical signal: compensation and clarity go hand-in-hand with retention.

One more thing – this isn’t just a data dump.

We also teamed up with executive career strategist Jacob Warwick to include a full section on salary negotiation – from knowing your value to navigating early compensation conversations. It’s the kind of tactical advice we wish we had earlier in our careers.

If you’re hiring, job hunting, planning your next move internally, or just want to know how your current salary stacks up – this report is for you.

P.S. I'm SO excited to get this into your hands - it's one of the biggest projects I've ever worked on (will share some takeaways on that process sometime soon)... and I'd LOVE to know what you think of it :)
